Do You Have A Roofing Project We Can Help With?
Tile Roof Installations
Tile may be the most customizable roof material ever. Usually formed from clay, tile can be molded to virtually any shape. Through the past several hundred years, there has been a standardization of some of the more effective profile types. Whether a tile is of the Shingle, Spanish, Interlocking, or Mission variety, it can be glazed in just about any color imaginable. We only use the best tiles, such as Ludowici.
Naturally finished (unglazed) tile will always offer some of the warmest feeling, but tile can be glazed to match an owner or designers exact specifications. Tile lends itself well to a host of different architectural styles, and like a slate roof, can offer more than a lifetime of service.
Styles
Tile may be composed of clay or cementations materials. Regardless of the tile’s composition, there are several main profiles which tiles are formed for use on a roof. Within the main profile types there are seemingly limitless possibilities for shape , texture, color, and size. Spanish (S-Tile) and Mission (Cap & Pan) tiles are similar in appearance and function in like manner. These profiles offer great depth in the appearance of a roof and are generally reminiscent of Mediterranean style buildings. Shingle tiles function similar to slate and often reflect a German or French feel. Interlocking tiles are similar in appearance to that of shingle tiles, but function somewhat differently. Because of how interlocking tiles interface with one another they often help to provide economy vs. their shingle type counterparts.
Tile Textures
Flat tiles and barrel tiles can be manufactured with many textures:
3 Directional Scoring, Battered Butts, Brushed Butts, Fine Machine Scoring, Hand Roughed, Hand Slushed, Hand Warped, Medium Machine Scoring, Pin Holes, Smooth, Weathered.
Tile Shapes
Tiles can be molded to many different shapes. Some of the most common ones include: Barrel Tiles, Shingle Tiles, Interlocking Roof Tiles, Shake Roof Tiles, Slate Roof Tiles, Graduated & Tapered Roof Tiles and Custom Roof Tiles.
Slate Roofing Colors
There is virtually no limit to the color possibilities for tile. Tile can be fired without any treatment and be ready for a roof in the same color as when the clay came out of the ground. Some treatments during the firing process can provide subtle to sometimes substantial color variation and add depth and warmth to the appearance of a roof. When tiles are glazed there is no limit to the color availability.
