Snap Lock Standing Seam Roof Installations

The Snap Lock Seam metal roof system is supplied and installed in 1” and 1.5” high seams.

The advantage of a snap lock system is time saving when it comes to installations. This is a much easier system to install, it is quicker and therefore it costs less on labor.

Because this panel relies on the rigidity of the material used to stay locked, is is recommended to use Kynar steel material, aluminum, or galvalume for example. Softer materials such as copper and zinc are not recommended.

Snap Lock panels also incorporate fixed or expansion cleats that allow the panel to expand and contract.

Because of the shape of its seams, snap lock roofing panels cannot be curved.

Nail Strip Metal Roof Installations

Offered in 1” and 1.5” high seams, this metal roofing system snaps together just like a Snap Lock system.
The difference between the two is that this system does not require clips, it has a built–in nail strip that eliminates the need for cleats.

This is an even more economical system, very quick to install, ideal for short runs where expansion and contraction are not a concern.

Like the snap lock system, this system relies on the rigidity of the material used for the seams to stay together, therefore softer materials such as zinc and copper are not recommended.

Flat Locked Roof and Wall Panels Installations

Flat-Lock roofing and wall panels are normally installed on flat roof surfaces or vertical walls.

Flat roof panels are normally rectangular in shape for an even cut out of sheet stock. They are ideal for flat roofs, domes, turrets and walls, even interior ones!

Flat lock panels on flat roofs always need to be soldered. Vertical wall panels do not. That means colored materials like Kynar aluminum and steel can only be use on walls, which is why more likely than not any flat roof you see will be copper. We also install lead coated copper, freedom gray, zinc and pre-patina copper flat lock roofs.

On wall applications, it is common to see copper and zinc panels.

Standing U Metal Roof Panels

The U-Panel is offered in 1” or 1.5” seam heights when formed form coil, or any other height when custom formed. U-Panels can be used in conjunction with heavy-duty batten cleats to form Batten Lock Panels, although these are much more commonly used in small areas, like for example on chimney caps, and specially when panels have to be radiused.

Because they feature only one bend in their “legs”, going up straight (unlike the mechanical lock panels) it is far much easier to shape these panels in concave and convex shapes, making them the ideal and most commonly used panels in such areas of roofing.

Copper is commonly used in its raw form for roofs, normally in 16 oz. and 20 oz. It is one of the most common materials used on roofs because of its longevity and its ever changing appearance.
Pre Patina Copper is available in 3′ x 10′ sheets, 18 oz. and 20 oz. this material is specially developed to match old, green patinated copper. It sometimes has a blueish tint to it.
Freedom Gray is a Tin / Zinc coated copper from Revere Copper available in 16 oz. and 20 oz. Its a great material to work with, used on higher end homes / structures, it develops a beautiful patina over time.
Galvalume is an Acrylic coated metal used on metal roofs. Also known as Galvalume Plus or Acrylume.
Lead Coated Copper is a common high end material used on metal roofs. Available in 16 oz. and 20 oz.
Zinc is one of the oldest materials used on metal roofs. It is available from Jarden or Rheinzink, normally as a brite / bright raw finish but others such as patinated finishes are available.
