European Craftsmanship Made in America!
At Century Slate Roofing Company, we manufacture our own gutters and most of our own accessories right here, in Durham, NC. Our sister company K&M Sheet Metal allows us to offer custom solution for rare, difficult to solve problems.
Not much needs to be said about gutters. A building has a roof on it to shed any rain to the perimeter, but where does the water go from there? Everyone knows that gutter systems are charged with the duty of safely getting rainwater to the ground level and minimizing the impact of water damage to a building’s foundation.
There are many options when it comes to gutter types and profiles. Likewise, there is a full range of downspouts as well. These can also come in a variety of metals.
Our team of roofers works with Euro gutters, traditional and reverse bead half-round gutters as well as k-style and custom gutters.
We offer custom solutions made in house to all your gutter needs! For more information on all that’s offered, or if your looking for fabrication only, please visit K&M Sheet Metal. Otherwise, contact us for the BEST pricing on fabrication and installation.

Integrating the Old with the New
A building does not have to be a recognized place of interest nor an old house to need occasional attention. Slates and tiles can break. Storms may cause damage to roofs. Leaks can happen. So, how do you fix a leaking roof?
When there is a call for matching the existing details and materials used in the original sometimes even historic construction of a building, the Century Slate Company has a vast knowledge of the materials and a network of relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, and other professionals that can help in new construction or repairs to original details on a building.
Renovations and repairs by professional roofers
Century Slate owns a full line of cranes, scaffolding, and equipment for renovations on homes as well as churches, universities and government buildings.
Some of our most rewarding work has been in the form of seamless integration of new components on a roof into an existing structure. Even slate and metal roofs will eventually fail. That may be due to poor craftsmanship, age or simply by enough abuse by the elements.
Century Slate’s estimating department is always glad to work with a client, to understand their needs and then make recommendations as to an appropriate plan for repairing a roof. Sometimes it’s a matter of flashing and/or fastener failure that is causing a problem with a particular roof. In these instances it may be best to just address the areas in immediate need. In other circumstances it may be necessary to remove all components of the roof, salvage the good ones (i.e. slate) and reinstall the good components with new underlayment, flashing and fasteners to provide an essentially new roof.
Snowguard Installations – A beautiful, safe addition!
Snow guards are commonly seen in traditional slate roofs and have gone back for generations on end. They are also common on metal roofs, shingles, wood shingles and even tile roofs.
Despite your climate, snow guards are a beautiful addition to any roof. If you live in an area that does have notable snowfall, snow guards are almost a must.
The functional purpose of snow guards is to hold the snow on your roof until it is able to melt down and come off safely in the form of water.
If all of the snow were allowed to build up, it may release at once, having a destructive effect on your roof, potentially rip off gutters and roof ornaments, destroy flowerbeds and landscaping. Most importantly, it can be extremely dangerous to anyone standing / walking below.
There are several different types of snow guards, snow brackets, color guards etc. Our team of roofers is expertly trained in the installation of such items and our estimators can help you choose the best items for your application.
We also offer custom solutions for snowguards!
The Century Slate Company specializes in snow guard installations in the state of North Carolina and its neighboring states.
